So now I have a broken DVD connection, and system restore is not working.įortunately, I have a recent backup image I am going to use to restore Windows unfortunately, my emergency restore disk from Macrium Reflect needs a DVD drive and, of course, my connection is broken. I did a Windows C:\\ search for "bytefence" and came up with nothing. Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (0 Build 10240) 0 0. I found 4 permission entries in Zone Alarm and removed them. All pre-release product keys published earlier for builds of Windows 10 Insider Preview have been deactivated and will no longer activate any Preview builds, including Build 10240. Now my DVD is not recognized I attempted to do a system restore, but I got an error message that it could not complete because something was blocking it, and suggested that I disable any AV programs. Next I scanned the register and removed all registry entries for "Bytefence". I removed it using the Windows uninstaller, and then removed the orphan entry in Programs x86. It immediately tried to access the internet, but Zone Alarm prevented it.
However, a program called Bytefence was installed without my knowledge or permission. The foistware programs were not installed. I disabled the checkboxes and proceeded with the install.
#Pre activated bytefence pro install#
When I booted the install file, a foistware screen appeared with several options pre-enabled. Since I have used FF for years with no problems, I thought it was some kind of false positive, so I accessed the site through Majorgeeks. I have been using Format Factory for years, and I wanted to install the latest version, but Firefox 65.0.2 threw up a blocking screen with a warning that this site installs software that might damage my computer and would not transfer me. Format factory, the popular file conversion utility download, has gone bad.
